Idea for over the fridge

Looking at this pic and the big space over the fridge:

I'm thinking something like this would not be terribly difficult to build; the most work might be getting the stain to match :D

I would need a step to reach them, but I certainly don't use my baking sheets, roasting pans, or muffin tins every day.

I'm thinking 1/4" Birch Plywood top and back, 1/2" side and bottom for stiffness. Figure out something simple for the doors.

Days 57 & 58 Sunday / Monday -- Cabinets and Carpets

To help make sure my pulls all line up I made several templates as I installed them.

Line up the template, use the spring loaded center punch to mark it, drill and install the pull:

See it worked! It allowed me to perfectly center one on the bottom of a base cabinet so the pull tab looks good right by the floor :D

This one is for changing the side the doors are mounted on. For some reason the base cabinets were marked for the doors to be reversed, but the tops were not.

The best way to unload the truck!

The yard is slowly getting cleaned up.

Progress -- I don't have counters yet, but the stove made a reasonable substitute considering last week I was using a couple five gallon pails!

Sunday evening, and then starting at 6am Monday, was moving all the small stuff out of the way of the carpet guys (who, by the contract, move the big stuff):

Kiya & Wes are planning to put down the cement board for the tile floors on Saturday LOL..FML.

Francisco & Miguel on the job:

Hmmmm...he used the Men At Work sign to patch another spot too.

I honestly can't remember if I put down the OSB or the contractors did back in '99 but clearly we did patch a significant section of sub-floor:

I would love to know what originally required a patch here, that Papu would've cut three sheets of plywood around it:

Oh, you cut it to fit outside! (When I -- alone -- installed the carpet in '99 I humped the whole roll inside and cut it fit as I unrolled it...)

Henry and Mort moved inside this weekend, and the Pothos that might just be the most difficult to kill thing I've ever known. It certainly is tolerant of neglect, when it looks seven eighths dead just put it in the sink and give it a good drink.

Seeming the rug. And using a couple boxes of subway tile I need to return to Home Depot for weight to help hold it down.

Days 54, 55, and 56

Scribing on Thanksgiving morning for the "big shims" under the floor frames for the cabinets:

So the jig to cut them became this simple -- another board with a screw in it. Put the scribed board against it, measure one end, adjust the screw end to match, cut. Damn that works nice and simple.

Continuing on Friday:

LOL...I didn't plan for the Amazon smile to be on top of the pile of boxes destined for the burn pile :D

"Left over" insulation to store up in the Attic...

Moving the left over vinyl to a new storage area (we'll use it for the Sauna rebuild)

Look at the lower left, water just poured out and out. I made a pile of materials which I'll cover with a tarp this week.

My 20-ish (or more) year old ramps have been showing their age. I put together a new set Friday evening in anticipation of picking up the washer and dryer; also I need them to move things from the deck to the house.

Moon over the fire pit.

Washer, Dryer, and a new chair :) Holy Cow Claudia & David have an amazing salt water front house (it's near where I've posted pics of me kayaking to an isolated beach, which is along the same salt pond).

Almost made it...I had measured the *back* of the cabinets to 36", forgetting the fronts have trim that make them wider :/

I didn't get much done today, not sure if it's this cold I've been fighting or what, but I had a major inflammation flare up this afternoon after we got back home, and laid down for about three hours. Then I "got hot" (don't want to call it a fever) and that seemed to burn it off then I was able to do stuff after about 5pm. Weird. I also had a minor migraine coming home after Thanksgiving, that fortunately didn't have any lingering effects on Friday. But my body is definitely fighting something this week.

At least I'm getting pretty good with the leveling cabinets, only took me a few minutes to adjust:
