Jeep Maintenance

2010 JKUR 3.8 Liter

Oil: 6 quart 5w20
Spark Plug Gap (not sure on NKG model): 0.050

Air Filter: Jeep came to me with an AFE cold air intake on it. Not sure how I feel about it, seems like it would be more exposed to water to me.

Troubleshoot & Tune Up GCV160 Honda engine on Toro lawnmower

Dusting off my mad skills from the small engine class I took with Eric a few years back :)

Friend had a mower dying after running a couple minutes.

So I figured I'd check the oil, plug, air filter, carb while working my way over to the fuel...

Oil looked good, plug was excellent, OH HOLY HELL that's not what an air box inside of the air filter should look like! While I don't expect a small engine cleaner box to be pristine, there shouldn't be an obvious build up of dirt:

Looks like they put the wrong filter on at the factory:

Easy fix, new filter that fits properly:

As to the chief complaint, I checked that the gas tank was almost but not quite empty. Took the hose off the intake side of the shutoff...well that should be free flowing:

And taking the line off the tank it is free flowing...so it's either the filter (which is obviously dirty) or the hose itself is plugged.

Thought of replacing the Honda internal filter with a generic external filter, but it doesn't fit well:

So since I couldn't find a new filter locally, and Corona virus has delivery schedules all screwy, I just used carb cleaner to clean the existing filter and re-installed it. Also upgraded the spring hose clips:

Detective Songy convoy

Run?

Parade?

Not sure what you call it. Rutland, Mass. Detective Songy is critically ill with Covid-19. He's also active with the local Jeep community. Last weekend they put out the word for a Jeep run to show support...it kind of snowballed. Seriously. They were originally thinking 100, they must've gotten the better part of 1000 cars and Jeeps.

I had already said I was in; as the meet up time kept getting moved earlier I did consider dropping but what the heck plus it gave my back some more time to finish recovering from the sprain a few days back.

The club I'm with (at least in the group that got together in Holden first and came up as a group) had six Jeeps. There were hundreds.

I'm at the 20:45 mark in a nearly 40 minute video of the parade. His Jeep is the one on the trailer at the beginning.

Day Off...

Looked at my calendar at 7:45 on Monday...and decided I could take the day off :)

It was going to rain off and on, so no sense trying to finish cleaning the garage since some stuff still needed to go outside while I finished.

I believe the station is in use for a mini-pumper. They have a newer station a bit up Route 2, I'd presume this was their original station but I don't know the history.

Most towns keep sand on hand, maybe some crushed asphalt...a town this steep keeps rock. Lots and lots of rock on hand.
